Ubisoft Announces Rainbow Six Siege X: The Biggest Transformation in the Game’s History

Ubisoft has officially revealed Rainbow Six Siege X, marking a monumental evolution for the beloved tactical first-person shooter. This announcement comes as Rainbow Six Siege celebrates its 10th anniversary in December 2025, solidifying its place as one of Ubisoft’s most successful and enduring franchises outside of Assassin’s Creed.

During the Six Invitational 2025, Ubisoft unveiled Siege X with a cinematic trailer that reflected on the game’s decade-long journey, followed by a teaser for the upcoming evolution. Contrary to initial speculation, Siege X is not a direct sequel (Rainbow Six Siege 2), but rather a significant overhaul designed to redefine the game for its second decade. Game Director Joshua Mills emphasized that Siege X represents a “big evolution,” building on the foundations of Siege while introducing new gameplay mechanics, graphical and audio upgrades, and refined tactical systems.

Ubisoft describes Siege X as “the biggest transformation in the game’s history,” aiming to reinforce Rainbow Six Siege’s position as a leader in the tactical first-person shooter genre. The update will introduce “new ways to play, deepened tactical gameplay, refined game feel, and major upgrades all around.” Fans can expect a fresh era of Siege that sets the stage for the future of the franchise.

The full reveal of Siege X will take place on March 13, 2025, during a three-hour showcase event in Atlanta, Georgia. The event will be broadcast live at 5 PM GMT / 6 PM CET on Ubisoft’s Twitch channel, where players, creators, and developers will come together to witness the unveiling of the game’s new features and surprises. Exclusive Twitch drops will also be available for viewers.

While Rainbow Six Siege initially struggled at launch in 2015, Ubisoft’s dedication to improving the game has been widely praised, drawing comparisons to other successful turnarounds like Final Fantasy XIV and No Man’s Sky. Over the past decade, Siege has become a financial cornerstone for Ubisoft, especially during challenging times for the company. With Siege X, Ubisoft aims to refresh the game and ensure its relevance for years to come.

Fan reactions to the teaser have been largely positive, with many hoping that Siege X will streamline some of the complexities added over the years, making the game more accessible to new players while retaining its depth for veterans. As Ubisoft continues to focus on its core strengths, Siege X represents a bold step forward for the franchise, promising to deliver an immersive and transformative experience for its dedicated community.

Stay tuned for the Rainbow Six Siege X Showcase on March 13 to witness the dawn of a new era for Siege.
