AMD A10-6790K Review
Introduction
The full specifications of this processor can be found here.
Focus of the test:
In this test we focus on comparing the AMD A10-6790K with an Intel Pentium G3258, an AMD A10-7700K and an AMD A10-5800K.
A10-6790K vs A10-6800K:
There are a few tiny differences between the 6790K and 6800K.
- Base and Turbo frequency of the CPU are 100MHz lower for the 6790K.(GPU is the same)
- The 6790K supports up to 1866MHz DDR3 memory, while the 6800K supports up to 2133MHz DDR3 memory.
384 Shader Cores comparison:
In this test we compare a few AMD graphics cards with 384 shader cores, the Radeon HD 8670D and 7660D, the Radeon R7 series IGP (6 compute cores) and the Radeon R7 250.
The Radeon HD 8670D IGP and 7660D IGP graphics share the same Terascale 3 architecture, the only difference is that the HD 8670D is clocked 44 MHz higher. In the benchmarks we included the 6790K @4400MHz and Radeon HD 8670D @950MHz.
The A10-7700K Radeon R7 series IGP (6 compute cores) is clocked @720MHz. The MSI AMD Radeon R7 250 (paired with a Pentium G3460) is (over)clocked @1100MHz. Both the A10-7700K R7 IGP (GCN 1.1) and the R7 250 (GCN 1.0) are based on the grapics core next architecture.
Piledriver Microarchitecture:
The 6790K is based on the Piledriver Architecture which should be app. 10 to 15% faster than Bulldozer. In the benchmarks we also included the AMD A10-7700K that has Steamroller cores, which should be faster than the Piledriver cores at the same clockspeed.
